Switzerland: Our “little” neighbour to the West is a country similar to ours yet different in many ways. I’m not going into detail about its history and politics although both are undoubtedly interesting and unique in the world. Together with my bf I was visiting some old family friends after I haven’t been to their place since more than 10 years. The weather god was with us and pleased us with summer-ish temperatures in mid-September! So we got a free place to stay and plenty of sunshine – perfect conditions!
Our hosts live near Zurich, right be the beautiful Lake Zurich. We caught the late-summer sun by the shore and even had a quick swim!
A regular boat service goes around the lake. On such a day, is there a nicer way to get into the city?
On Saturdays there are several flea markets in Zurich, one of them is right on Bürkliplatz, where the boat stops.
The city has a comfortable size to explore the little alleys, shops and squares by foot. It definitely has a very Mediterranean atmosphere minus the shabbiness 😛
Switzerland is known to be an expensive country and our hosts made us save a lot of cash while they provided us with tons of sandwiches. We hardly ate out (restaurants would have been the biggest budget-killer), but one thing that shouldn’t be missed are Zurich’s numerous confectioneries. Sprüngli even had a chocolate named after me (well more after a cow) 😉 Have a look inside their shops and you’ll find yourself in chocolate/pastry heaven!
After we satisfied our chocolate cravings we gained some energy to explore more of Zurich’s cute alleys…
Later in the afternoon we drove to Liechtenstein to meet up with my bf’s friends at the Hilti (the tool manufacturer) headquarter. There was a big anniversary celebration where we took this blurry photo at a photo booth. Cute eh?
Anyways, more remarkable was the beauty that surrounded us. I’m a huge mountain lover and of course I was all eyes when I saw that panorama ❤️

Your pictures look great and this destination looks very relaxing:)
Thank you! It indeed felt like a little vacation 😉
The mountains look amazing and browsing the flea markets there sounds like fun. I haven’t been to Zurich, but you’re photos make me want to visit someday 🙂
Thanks Eden, I hope you get the chance one day!
Wow, Switzerland looks stunning in your photos. We have many flea markets here in Copenhagen esp during summer almost every weekend. And then once a month during autumn, winter and spring. It’s fun going to flea markets. 🙂
Thank you Angela, I’ll have to remember those dates when I go to Copenhagen one day 🙂
Oh so you made it to Liechtenstein as well, that’s great 🙂 Great that you enjoyed Zurich/Switzerland so much and that you had the possibility to save some money and still enjoy it there. And now I really want to go there again after reading your post 😀
Yes we got to see a few places luckily 😀 I was really looking forward to that trip especially after your posts 😉
What beautiful photos! Zurich looks absolutely amazing!

Tiff, I keep my fingers crossed that you’ll get to visit as many beautiful places as possible during your time in Europe 😉
Gorgeous! I haven’t made it to Zurich, sadly… But a good friend of mine is living there and he introduced me to Sprungli!! He brought us some of that chocolate last time he was in town – sooo damn good and I’m not a big chocolate person!! But then again, he does work in chocolate, so he knows his stuff!!
Oh my, he must love his job I guess 😛 Isn’t it time to visit your friend there? Great place to stock up on some chocolate 😉
Toller Beitrag, die Fotos sind wirklich Traumhaft!
Lieber Grüsse,
Mariella
Oh vielen Dank!!
I’ve always wanted to visit Switzerland. It’s such a beautiful place but it looks expensive to visit? I’ll just have to make do with photos for now haha

Well, I very much hope you can see it with your own eyes one day 😉

Wow! So beautiful! It’s so great you could enjoy that wonderful weather in a place like this! I bet that, when the sun shines, everything even more beautiful than usual! 🙂
That’s absolutely right! When it’s sunny, it doesn’t matter where you are right? 😉
I have no words! So beautiful, really enjoyed this post!
Aww thank you!
Thank you for visiting Zurich and this great article! Glad you liked it 🙂
I really did! Thank you!
