The Catskill Mountains come into my mind first when I think of a quick escape from the city: Only two hours away from New York City, yet the picturesque villages and natural beauty make it feel worlds away.
When it comes to the culinary scene, the Catskills are one of the best places to enjoy farm-to-table cuisine in some of the state’s best restaurants. In the middle of the forest, we pampered ourselves with delicious brunch at the Phoenicia Diner and window-shopped in Tannersville.
A sudden, late winter streak came just in time for our trip to Mohonk Mountain House. For the first time, we put on a pair of snow shoes and hiked through the dazzling winter landscape near the Victorian-style resort. Along the way there were dozens of amazing viewpoints but the lookout from the Skytop Tower was unbeatable!
The best reward of a strenuous hike is a warm, hearty meal. The Mohonk Mountain House serves them with class: The lunch buffet (brunch during weekends) offers everything from wagyu, ramen, tacos to mouthwatering desserts. And to give it a more exclusive feel, only hotel guests and day guests with dining reservations have access to the resort, which comes at a price. However, admission to the hiking trails (which start at 21$ per adult) is always included with a booked meal – a wonderful way to spend a day in the Catskills! Find more information here.

Honestly, I had to google him and I take this as a compliment 😉
Well, if you haven’t read him, you must. You’re in the US now, right? Go to your nearest Barnes & Noble, and ask for White Fang or The sea-wolf. 🙂
