Asia Destinations

From the archives: Malaysia and Singapore

March 23, 2015

“Malaysia – Truly Asia” is a very matching slogan for this diverse country. The mix of Chinese, Indian and Malay culture reflects in religion (Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists) as well as in food (from Tandoori Chicken to Dim Sum), topped with an undeniable influence of former Western colonialism.…

Burma

At the time I went to Burma it wasn’t as popular with travelers yet. Nevertheless, on that trip I went with a tour group, which I’m usually not a big fan of. The lazy days of Koh Lanta

February 4, 2015

After temple-hopping and jungle-zipping it was time for sea and sand! Our trip from Chiang Mai to Koh Lanta involved a plane, bus, boat and tuk-tuk ride until we arrived at our hotel. But no need to worry, there was plenty of time to recover from the strenuous journey: Contrary to its much busier neighbour Phuket, the beaches weren’t as commercialized and still kept a hippie vibe, although the local population is mainly Muslim.…
